From Carson City, Over the Summit to the Lake

The Nevada side of Lake Tahoe is part of Douglas County, and it sits roughly 25 to 30 miles from Carson City. To get there we take US-50 west over Spooner Summit and down to the shore. It is a beautiful mountain drive, and it is also the reason we always talk timing with you up front, because snow, ice and holiday traffic can slow it down.

Up here, a lot of lock trouble happens to people who are not home. Visitors locked out of a rental, owners who arrive to find a dead keypad, guests who drove off with the only key. We come to the property or the parking lot with everything needed to open, rekey or replace the lock on site.

Help for Vacation Rentals, Second Homes and Property Managers

Short-term rentals and part-time homes need locks that are easy to manage from a distance.

Guest lockouts

A guest is outside a rental with a dead keypad or a lost key. We open the door, confirm the guest is authorized with you, and get the lock working again.

Rekeys between owners or managers

When a property changes hands or management, rekey so old keys and lockbox keys stop working. It is the cheapest way to start fresh.

Keypad and smart locks

Keypad and smart locks let you change guest codes without handing out keys. We install them and replace failing units.

Ski Season, Beach Season and Winter Conditions

Lake Tahoe has two busy seasons. In winter, skiers head for Heavenly and the shore fills with weekend visitors. Car keys get lost in the snow, fobs die in the cold and car doors freeze shut overnight. In summer, beach days bring keys locked in cars at crowded lots and keys dropped in the sand or the water. Either way, our car lockout service and car key replacement work the same: we come to the vehicle.

Snow and ice also affect home locks. Doors swell, keypads drain their batteries and deadbolts stiffen until they will not turn. Please do not force a frozen lock. Call us, and if the hardware is worn out, we can replace it with something better suited to mountain weather.

Winter driving over the summit can take longer, so we will give you honest timing when you call. If you are somewhere cold, tell us, and look for a warm place nearby to wait.
